Oooooh Mount Aso wakes up!
The 1,592-metre (5,220-foot) Mount Aso on the southern main island of Kyushu, 200 km (560 miles) southwest of Tokyo, spews a column of white smoke into the sky January 14, 2004. The volcano began to spout earth, sand and smoke on Wednesday. The Meteorological Agency officials said there were no reports of damage or injuries.
