College Ball The College Basketball season is starting to pick up in a major way but here is the thing. Duke should be #1 even though they have a loss. Stanford and St Joe's are the nations only undefeated teams and they are ranked 2nd and 3rd. Stanford's only hard team to beat was Arizona and St Joe's hasn't played anyone good. Duke is in the hardest conference in America (right now) and is undefeated. The ACC will have 7 or 8 teams in the NCAA tournament while the Pac-10 will probably have 2 or 3 and the Atlantic 10 will just have St Joe's. So even if St Joe's and Stanford go undefeated for the rest of the season, they will still not be #1 as long as Duke keeps winning. The tournament will obviously decide the true champion anyway, and rankings are moot.. but people that think Duke shouldn't be #1 should just shut up. They are a monster team.  ¶ 2/12/2004 08:53:00 AM
