THE WORLD OF BRIAN SMITH
In NY
Oh NY. After six hours in the car and only 1 stop I landed in Buffalo around 2:30 PM. I visited with my sister and her friend Kate and we gossiped about all you people reading this now and more. Even those who don't know who to read. And especially the ones that don't follow sentence structure or grammar rules. Her roomates are in a tiffy but whatever. We went to eat at some Greek place and my poor ass was treated to lunch by my sister who for once makes more money than me cause I am poor. I know I repeated poor in that sentence on purpose. So anyway we went back to her apartment and yakked more about all those losers in Holley who are still in Holley and about the few of us who actually have gotten out and have moved on to better things in life, even if that means sitting around for 70 days being unemployed and poor. It's still better.
So it got dark, like it does every day, and I decided it was a good time to hit the road and head over to my parents house which was about another hour east. I had no problems finding my way out of the edges of Buffalo and took the thruway to the Pembroke exit. I busted down Oakfield/Alabama road or whatever it is and jetted through Clarenon on 237. I beeped my horn past the houses I knew and went home and met my parents new cat. It doesn't have a name yet. The dog and cat seem to get along quite well. The cat owns jerry. They get along really well. Jerry licks it and the cat doesnt care. When the cat is playing it will sneek up on him and try to get his tail. She also gets up on two legs and punches him the face with her other two front paws. He backs away. I want to make a video, its funny. I tried to call my friend Tom Harrington but I guess I don't have his phone number in my new phone. It was in the calls list and I tried to get into my online account at my cell company but I haven't logged in yet and when I called their system was down or something. Oh well, next time. It's probably a good thing I am not out staying up late tonight. Well, time to go brush these teeth and pass out watching sportscenter. Later.
Hit the Road Time
It's just about time to take the first bms tour of the year with this morning being the kick start. I'm off to Buffalo to visit my sister and then on to Holley to see the folks and watch the dog whimper over the new cat. Then tommorrow it will be time to witness the nuptials of Sir Thomas Stanton and Jamie Vendetti of Holley High School fame. Then onward to Oneonta for a Halloween dose of Rezi and a visit to the Oneonter boys. Then come Monday it will be high time to get back Jack to Michigan in time to enter my swing vote in Tuesday's election. Yee-haw skadoodle. Maybe I'll check in from the road. Adios.
Congrats Boston!
New Eminem Video
The video is animated and starts with a commercial airliner flying over a school and exploding off screen. Then it shows Eminem in a school reading a book to the class just as Bush was doing in the minutes following the September 11th attacks, but the book Eminen is reading is upside down. Also in the clip there’s cartoon footage of soldiers being given their orders to go to Iraq, a woman given an eviction notice and various newspaper clippings about the war. Check it out.

Sox take commanding 3 game lead
Unless the rarest of rares occurs two times in a row, the Boston Red Sox are this year's World Series champion. No team before them came back from a 3-0 defecit in a 7 game series. Now the Cardinals must overcome the same odds to win it all. It looks like the baseball season is all but over.
Sox Prevail!
Amazing series and amazing turnaround by the Red Sox. Johnny Damon finally came to life. Ortiz continued his monster strength. And Lowe was solid through six innings.
The trades they made mid way were right on.. acquiring Roberts and Mientkiewicz turned out to be so important tonight and in games 4 and 5. not to mention Cabrera has been a rock at shortstop.
It's just funny how they didnt need AROD like they thought they did in December/January.
Nice work Red Sox
I'm hoping for a Cardinals/Red Sox series, that would be nice.
In other news Edmonds smashed a monster home run in the bottom of the 12th to force a game 7 in the NLCS.
GAME 7: Sox/Yanks
Tonight's Game 7 between the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees has all the makings for a classic game.
No team has come back in a best of seven series while down three games to zero. Boston has. After a couple amazing games, the Red Sox have evened the series.
Supposedly Derek Lowe and Kevin Brown are the starting pitchers tonight. Both bullpens will have to work hard again.
I just want to see a great baseball game. I am mostly going to be rooting for the Yankees, but if the Red Sox win thats fine by me and we'll see history happen. Red Sox could still blow it in the World Series anyway so it's not like the curse would just all of a sudden go away.
One thing I am certain of is, if Boston wins, people will riot in New York and Boston. If the Yankees win, people will riot in Boston.
Maybe the police should always be on the field.
Another Classic
Three straight classic games in a row will lead to tomorrows showdown Game 7 between the NY Yankees and Boston Red Sox. I'm looking forward to it.
O Well
Not like I don't know how to handle this. Happens every year. I set my watch to it. FUCK. Back to beating the shitty mets and lowly phillies. Braves got nothing better to do. Kill kill kill.
Two Games at the Same Time
4:36 - FUCK YES. I called that. YES!!!!! See you tomorrow in Atlanta, Astro bitches.
4:30 - Here we go Double Play, here we go.
4:28 - My tomahawk is in full swing mode.
4:26 - It's all up to Johnny. All he has to do is shut the killer B's down and make them bumble bees without stingers and we'll live to see another day. It's 6-5, going to the buttom of the ninth after JD Drew got Furcal home. Live to see another day, live to stay out of jail another day in Furcal's perspective.
4:23 - Hell yeah JD.. I had the confidence. I knew Furcal would get on base. I knew you would hit a single. Frig yeah! Lets get another run.
4:11 - Fuck Vick blew it. Well, I guess that first loss is out of the way, now I can focus all my attention on the Braves game for today. Now give me what I asked for.
4:10 - Vick driving. Smotlz gets out of a jam. Excellent play Marcus Giles.
4:04 - Come on Johnny. Falcons will get another chance with about 2 minutes left to tie it up. Bottom of the 8th for Johnny. At the warning track.. Oooh a little too close. Another at the warning track. Crumpler 24 yard gain.
3:56 - Alright. Confession. The Falcons are my first true love as far as teams are concerned. They should be winning this game. That's a fact. They are struggling with penalties. If I can only get 1 win out of these two games, I will trade a Braves win for a Falcons lose. And thats hard to swallow. Really hard.
3:49 - Nice job Hampton. Strikes out Berkman and then gets Kent to
hit into the double play. Falcons struggling with penalties.
3:41 - The Defense did its job. The Braves were held scoreless. Good return Rossum, hopefully this flag isn't holding. Crap. Block to the back. No wonder why it was a good return.
3:39 - This day better end with two Atlanta victories or I'll be mighty pissed.
3:37 - We'll take the three. 17-10. Now the defense needs to do its part. Now lets score some runs. Do it to it Furcal! Or strike out, whatever. Hampton warming up in the pen. Damn it JD. Haven't been too happy with him this postseason. Reminds me of Sheffield last year. Great season, but so far a dud when it really matters. Houston making a pitching change. Biggio is out.
3:30 - Shuffle pass. Oooh. I'll take it! Vick starting to look good. Except he keeps over throwing the half back flanks. Alfonseco gets out of a mini jam and Astros don't score. Nice third down play Vick!
3:25 - Okay so I should have started this earlier, but I'm feeling confident and the go back button is powered up. Why the Braves and the Falcons have to be on at the same time is annoying. Charles Thomas has replaced Eli in left and the sinker ball thrower Alfonseco is in to pitch the Astros into ground ball fever. Nice return by Rossum from deep in the end zone plus a penalty. Come on Vick, step it up. Where is Crumpler? 1 out baserunner on first, Let's go Double Play, let's go. 3rd quarter is over.
3:20 - LaRoche finally swings the damn bat! A 3 run home run to upper deck ties the game right after I felt confident again. 5-5 in the middle of the sixth and the Rocket has been out. Falcons goal line making a stand. Vick needs to get productive. 14-7 late in the 3rd quarter. The fake field goal earlier better not come back to haunt us.
Furcal saves the day
Well even though Rafeal Furcal has some issues when the season is over, today he is the hero. With two outs in the bottom of the 11th inning Furcal blasted a walk off 2 run shot off Miceli to end the game. The Braves seriously needed to win this game to even up the series and not finish as they often do every year. Drew, Jones, and Estrada all batted extremely disappointedly today and hopefully they can get off the snide in time for game 3 saturday afternoon in Houston. Unfortunately the Astros have won something like 18 in a row at home, but that streak will just have to end. Today's game was way too close for my fingernails, but it all doesn't matter in the end. Hopefully this lites a fire under their asses to finish out this series in the next two games in order to move on.
