  Picking NFL winners.
I started good, but recently I have gone downhill. I am hoping yesterday was rock bottom, cause that was some shitty predicition work I might add.

Week 3 8-6
Week 4 3-11

Overall 29-31

Horrendous.

  Dirty Bird Report Week 4
Puke.

That's about it. That's all I can say. Life as a Falcons fan the past 13+ years has been a very difficult life. Up and down. Down then down. Then up... But now down. All I have to say is Doug Johnson sucks. 90% of our game plan going into the season was to get a great relationship built between Vick and Price. Then Vick got hurt and Doug didn't know jack shit about what flavor gatorade Price enjoys. Duckett actually was the featured back and got a hundred yards. What the hell are they doing with this guy. They still don't know how to use Dunn and Duckett effectively. Dan Reeves is a joke. This guy is done after this year. Out. They'll spend big bucks on a new coach and hopefully bring in someone like andy reid, mike holmgrom, or i dont know, anyone else. Every time we stopped them or got a big play there was an illegal procedure or holding call to reverse the play. It was real painful to watch. I drove 80 miles an hour to get back home from Jersey by 430 only to go to the bar and watch that shitty display of teamwork. It was so pathetic. I left before the third quarter was over to go home crawl into a ball and forget about how bad my team is. Next week we ruin the undefeated season of the vikings, then the week after that maybe Vick will come back against the rams on monday night (status unlikely).. Time is our worst enemy now. If we are 2-4 when Vick comes back I'd say we'd have a chance... But if we are 1-5 the season is over and we'll get some nasty defensive tackle in the draft. What a joke. Throw to Price. Keep Dantzler out of the game.. Fucking pathetic.

In other news.
My Madden fantasy team the Saratoga Tornadoes is looking good with Ricky Williams, Joey Porter, Hines Ward, Tom Brady, Jeremy Shockey, Brian Dawkins, John Lynch.. they will most likely contend for the title. Right now they are 2-0 after going 4-0 in the preseason. Run Ricky Run leads the league in rushing yards with 293. He broke a 59 yard run with 15 seconds left in the game to beat the Redskins 37-34 week 1, that was amazing.
But in the real NFL.. The Broncos won without Portis (barely), the Chiefs got over the Ravens (again, barely). Vikings and Colts showed off some fancy snatching hat tricks by Moss and Harrison. My fantasy teams got their asses kicked this week. I shouldn't have taken Vick so early and so often. My second pick Price is still fucking me over. The Jets looked pathetic. The Bengals won! (they have a decent team).. Jamal Lewis and Boldin lead the league in rushing and receiving yards?

Tonight.
I see Favre mustering up his last couple ounces of magic to pull out tonight. I don't think it will be high scoring. And i don't think it will be a pretty game..Can't wait to get a look at the improved soldier field (yeah..right)..

Sam Roberts / Guster last night
Straight up Rock and roll.
So last night my ladies and i drive down to albany to catch guster w\ sam roberts at the palace theatre. it was a pretty interesting show. i went into the show having really no idea what to expect. ive never listened to guster, and i only knew that mustard highly recommended sam roberts.. i made sure we showed up early enough to catch sam's band.. when we walked in i saw a girl who used to work with us, that was cool... for a few minutes i thought i was at some high school dance or something.. there were "like" so many young kids it was crazy.. think dave matthews fans, but 5 years younger. there were some older people here and there and people that i could tell were cool.. but i couldnt help but thinking, my mom would pick me up outside the concert at 11.. i enjoyed wearing my trey is wilson flip the bird shirt... but anyway... the lights go down and sam and his band came out.. they were indeed pretty good.. pretty straight forward rock and roll.. sam is definately an entertainer though.. the band had a lot of energy. some songs were better than others.. the sound wasnt ideal for them though, as they were somewhat muffled and you could barely tell the vocals.. but he had good crowd interaction here and there in between songs, except i hate when the dude makes the crowd get up and yells at the crowd and stuff... but i can understand if everyone is sitting and youre all juiced.. why not get some fucking movement.. he kept giving props to canada and montreal his home town... he dedicated a song to potheads.. yeah!... the lead guitarist was all over the place jumpin up and down... sam played guitar on and off. and there was another guy who switched between keys and guitar.. and a drummer..and a bass player.. so five players.. mostly guitar... a couple songs the guitars just went off crazy style hard rockin edge type stuff.. it's cool.. im more of a fan of other sounds floating around than just guitars and drums.. so i liked the songs with keys more i think... either way, i bought their cd after the show and im listening now.. its good stuff... .. then the stage people switched up the stuff and guster came out... guster is also a guitar band with two lead guys who switched guitars every song it seemed.. that guitar tech was real busy the whole show... man!.. this other guy played bass on some songs, guitar on others.. and some sort of sampling keyboard thing here and there, i wasnt really following everything he was doing.. the bass stuff was pretty much just moving the song, there wasnt any funky bass.. the percussionist/drummer guy was awesome... he was really really good.. most of the songs he played percussion rig on and a few he played the smaller drum kit... the guster guy joked in between a song about how the percussion player was using superglue and fake skin to keep his hands together and that it was falling apart and that... once it did fall apart he would play the rest of the set with bloody palms.. cool!... the sound was much better for guster, you could hear their vocals and such... i really enjoyed their music... it was good, parts of some songs sounded recognizable, but i wasnt sure... they played one long set which was about 90 minutes maybe and then came out and did 4 or 5 encore songs.. the lights were also pretty cool.. they did banter here and there in between songs about pointless stuff, which sometimes is cool and other times annoying.. it was neither... but musically, it was pretty entertaining... i got a little bored near the end cause it wasnt a rezi show or anything... but i stuck through... there was some commotion in the crowd and i definately turned around to give the chit chat girls my death stare a few times, but otherwise, the crowd was fine to work with... so the last song they played they did acoustic with tamberine, two acoustic guitars and a banjo... it was pretty cool, people in the crowd only shouted a few times.. so you could hear it...
final thoughts: yeah, i didnt know what to expect and i left thinking it was a good show... it was a good show... i dont have any other shows by each to compare against... some parts were better than others, but on a whole id say it was definately worth the time spent...

seven oceans circle around me like a disease,
quickly you can see..

its in front of you
its in front of me...

whats this path we chose,
afraid, but YOU cant lose..

quit this.
dont forget this.

im gone from here today!!!
ive left behind no lies.

the streets are alive with passion.
the hills breathe fire from rain.
I stand here today not a man.
but mankind.
I stand here today lifting my arm to forgive
things I can't change...
like the red potion of tomorrow,
winds bring cold flowing breeze.
this isn't a path but a promise.
i'm cold in here but the lights on.
its 9, your frozen, and time stands still.
i've got an orange, but its broken.
we could stand here now until then
but what would that do.
shit, the curtains just split.

  Dirty Bird Report Week 3
Eh.
We were prepared for that. We knew it would happen. But we dreamed and we hoped that it wouldn't be that bad or maybe even we had a chance. But we didn't. The game was an all around joke for all falcons fans. When we expected the worst case scenario Doug Johnson didn't let us down and threw an interception. When we yelled at the team for continuing the running game, of which had runs of 1, 2, -1, 1, 0, -3, 1, 2 to stop running and pass, they either ran the ball again for 1 yard or threw an interception. When we wanted the blitz to get brad johnson confused we were burnt deep and often. When our secondary played zone they got smoked. Even Brooking as fired up as I have seen him all year did not do enough to help fire up the rest of the team. Rossum showed the games only bright spot when he returned a punt 40 yards. The Falcons were desperate and it wasn't pretty. Woodrow Dantzler was put in a few times lined up behind center to attempt to confuse the bucs. An acquisition from the cowboys during preseason, no idea where he came from.. he was brought on the team to add some sort of flair to a much needed team who lost most of its flair when vick went down. He showed some getting into the end zone but it wasnt enough and frankly.. was pathetic. Guess we don't have to worry much about DJ getting picked up by another team who needs a new quarterback in the offseason.. He sucks. Price was at least able to multiple his total number of the catches in the season up to a whopping 10.

From a fantasy perspective and having dunn, price, crumpler on almost every team I have... my teams are doing horrible so far.
But from a love perspective, yesterday hurt. I had expected it, but it still wasn't fun. At least there weren't any more major injuries to complain about. Vick's leg still hurts so that's not good. Chances are we won't see him until after the bye week. Bringing us to week 9.

I am still gunning for the playoffs and super bowl championship... I am a VICK believer. The team just needs to step up big time and win the next couple of games. (Carolina, Rams, Vikings) if we even want a chance to compete when Vick comes back... The worse we do however, the more hungry superman will be... So you might want to watch out second half opponents (eagles, giants...etc).

In other news around the league.
Dolphins looked for real last night.. stopping the bungalo bills. The bills offense looked like crap. Williams was damn impressive. Seahawks are for real. Glad to see Robinson getting some catches again. I watched a lot of the Chiefs game yesterday cause it was on the screen next to the Falcons game and I have to say... I don't think anyone can stop them.. Sure they were playing the texans, and the texans did stop them a few times.. but Holmes is just nasty. Indianopolis and New England are looking pretty good now. Glad to see New Orleans lose. Pittsburgh, for a while I thought they were going to blow that game.. I consider that win lucky.

Tonight
I think Denver will pull it out tonight, hopefully Portis will play most of the game and not be too hampered by his injury.. We'll see though. Should be a good game.

  Posting.
As you can see I have not posted for a few days... The past few days have been rough. Very rough. I was misreably sick from Wednesday to Saturday and since then I am in recovery. I hope to write more chilling details later but until then I think my excuse is rather good knowing how crappy I felt...

FAA Selects Eden Help Desk for NexGen Implementation
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is the United States government body responsible for overseeing air transportation in the United States and for operating the world's largest and safest aviation system. An arm of the US Department of Transportation, the FAA focuses primarily on air transportation safety and enforcement. It is also responsible for the around-the clock operation of the US traffic control system through a network of control facilities at more than 19,000 airports. Outside the US, the FAA works with international aviation authorities in developing common global safety practices.

With more than 70,000 employees and 12 major centers nationwide, maintaining superior IT Help Desk support is more than a daunting task, it's critical to the agency's core mandate. Handling issues across business systems quickly, reliably and the first time, is crucial.

That's why, when the FAA needed a reliable, enterprise-wide solution for an IT Help Desk, they selected Eden Help Desk.

The Situation

By June of 2003, the FAA's 1,200 technicians were managing calls through a myriad of Help Desk applications. These applications were inefficient, costly to maintain, and did not provide the required collaborative and networking capabilities. In addition, they did not fit within the FAA's plan for complete IT system reorganization, code named NexGen.

"In the [original] FAA environment, there was no single organization-wide help desk solution," says NexGen Program Manager, Russell Hayslett. "NexGen had just finished implementing a new consolidated messaging infrastructure. As with the introduction of any new software, help desk tickets were on the rise. We found it impossible to track the number and type of tickets being generated. More importantly, we were unable to conduct any type of trend analysis that would allow us to recognize and resolve problems that would benefit the most number of customers."

"It was also extremely difficult to share knowledge. One group would resolve a problem, but because we did not have a common knowledgebase, another group would spend time trouble shooting the same problem. This was an impractical use of the limited resources we had. Establishing a single and central help desk solution was the best way to resolve these difficulties."

The Solution

The FAA needed a robust collaborative tool that could handle both the massive volume of calls and the complexity of their internal IT requirements. In order to meet these exhaustive requirements, multiple profiles needed to be maintained for various levels access. Furthermore, particular groups within the FAA had to be allowed to choose from categories specific to their region, with robust security and access determining the access to the ticket. The FAA also needed to track Service Level Agreement (SLA) information based upon the actual user and priority of the help ticket.

To ensure that any new Help Desk solution met all of the FAA's technical requirements and business objectives, the NexGen team went through a rigorous selection process. According to Hayslett, "We developed a comprehensive requirements document that detailed the functionality that a product had to have. We then did a comparison of several different products, which narrowed the field. Cost was the final deciding factor, once we had a list of products that could provide similar required functionality."

In less than two months, the NexGen team selected the solution that best meet their requirements. Says Hayslett, "There were a number of reasons we selected Eden Help Desk. Primarily, it met all our requirements at the price-point we needed. The product was customizable and the licensing agreement made the FAA the owners of their customizations. Many companies sell their products and offer their services, but a winning situation for NexGen was the fact that we could also purchase the actual code. This gives the FAA more control and more options for the future."

The FAA recognized the performance advantages and value of the Eden Help Desk, but there were still some steps before the FFA would realize its full potential. Eden faced several challenges to a smooth installation and migration. Foremost among them were that Eden needed to replicate the complex server set up and test ID's used by the FAA. With "availability" the primary concern, the application was deployed across multiple sites within the FAA; each site having a real-time back-up to eliminate down-time. Eden worked closely with the FAA to obtain and use their test ID's; worked with all profile information that was being tested and shared testing documentation.

The Result

The Eden Help Desk is now providing the FAA with the collaborative tool they need to greatly expand the capabilities and features asked for by users and to reduce time and cost, maximize IT resources, and leverage their investment in Lotus Domino. Issues are now analyzed and prioritized to provide the most benefit to the most users. Further, the FAA is benefiting from Eden's renowned technical support which assures continued, flawless operation.

Says Hayslett, "Eden was very responsive to our needs. They delivered their work on time and within budget. Any "issues" found with our customizations were promptly fixed at no additional cost. Our overall experience with Eden was very positive and we look forward to doing business together in the future."

  Sun Glare
Well we must have rotated around some as the a planet. I've been in this desk location for a couple months and we must have rotated enough cause only today have I received a glare in my eyes at this particular moment in time. We have sun windows or whatever they are called and in the past this has been an issue, then I changed locations, since which I have changed again... but not until today has this happened. I am pretty sure I can avoid it by placing a piece of paper in a particular section on the window in my cube. Exciting.

  The Customization Death Spiral
The Customization Death Spiral is a termed penned by the upper management here at EDEN. The Customization Death Spiral refers to the never ending amount of customizations we must do to match our application to the customer's needs and desires. Constantly our technicians are always spending time working on these customizations which result in less time actually applied to the making improvements on the out of the box version of the software. The reason why it is dubbed a death spiral is simple. These customizations never end. One work order comes in and then another one comes in. Constantly there is more work that needs to get scheduled than there is currently in development. Recently several 100 hour work orders or greater have forced upper management to take a step back and re-evaluate exactly what it is that we should be focusing more time on. The Customization Death Spiral blocks up the schedule or many of our programmers which results in the applications not getting a much needed wash and dry through normal spin cycles that generally result in one major upgrade a year making the software ahead of the game and on track to destroy its competition. Which it does. One way in which we are attempting to alleviate this Customization Death Spiral is to start outsourcing many of the actual customization work to consulting firms. This will alleviate many of the internal technician's time so that we can focus. Customization Death Spiral is a problem we need to resolve and we are currently realigning the tracks several weeks down the line.

  Dirty Bird Report Week 2
Not much fun after a loss...but nonetheless.. on a g'damned safety too.. fook.
1) GET THE BALL TO PRICE.. okay so he only caught 2 out of 8 passes thrown to him, and some of the passes were crappy... price needs to catch the ball more.. and explode.. still waiting on that.. if this plan fails just throw to crumpler more.
2) THE SECONDARY SUCKS... if you want your quarterback and recievers to have a field day, play the falcons.. what did ramsey have yesterday 350 yards, with coles getting 180 and gardner
getting 120.. i say god damn.. thats just not acceptable.
3) DUNN come on dude.. run throw the holes not into the defenders.
4) FEELY uncharacteristly missed a field goal. thats all we needed.
5) HANG IN THERE Doug Johnson, we only need you a few more weeks. So far i'm not too worried about him getting lured away to another team to become their starter next year.. but it's certainly not unrealistic..
6) TJ Duckett - Two touchdowns in a minute.. We were up 17-0.. What the fugle happened?

BUCS NEXT WEEK.. Bring it on PHIL!!!.. Losing to Carolina? HAHA!!!

Other thoughts around the league
Wow Jamal.. bet he doesnt do that again. Packers and Patriots mentally back.. Eagles.. they are just going to get hungry. Bills looked good again. St Louis and Miami bounce back. Chiefs look tough..wait 295 YARDS!! holy cow... Broncos and Colts are gaining steam.. Who expected the Redskins, Seahawks, or Panthers to ever be undefeated in the season. Bulger hello. Warner goodbye. Da Bears... Suck.

Tonight
I see Giants winning tonight by either a field goal or ten points. Expect a big game for Barber and more fuck ups for Quincy Carter.

  People Gettin' Sued...
Here's one for you Grant:

The Register: "The RIAA has nailed one of the most prolific file-traders in the U.S., filing a lawsuit against 12-year-old Brianna LaHara.

When not at the playground with her friends, 'Biggie Brianna' is trading music files from her home in New York. The little girl received one of the 261 lawsuits filed by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) on Monday, according to the New York Post. She may look like a sweet and innocent child, but the RIAA says it's only going after major copyright violators at the moment. So you make the call.

'I got really scared. My stomach is all turning,' Brianna told the Post. 'I thought it was OK to download music because my mom paid a service fee for it. Out of all people, why did they pick me?'

It turns out that Brianna's mum paid a $29.99 service charge to KaZaA for the company's music service. Brianna, however, thought this meant she could download songs at will. How naive!

When reporters charged into Brianna's home, she was helping her brother with some homework. She is an honors student at St. Gregory the Great school.

Brianna could face charges of up to $150,000 per infringed song, but we have a feeling this might be a tad unrealistic. We suggest the RIAA take all of her toys instead.

'Nobody likes playing the heavy and having to resort to litigation,' RIAA president Cary Sherman said in a statement. 'But when your product is being regularly stolen, there comes a time when you have to take appropriate action.'

Go get her, Cary. ® "

-------------------------------------------------------------
In a related article I read on CNN earlier today and doesn't appear to be active right now for some reason.. It stated that some people didn't even know it's wrong to download songs illegally through the internet...

Don't be so stupid people.. It's stealing.

  Coffee Pause

So we have this Coffee Pause thing here at work which basically means I can walk to the back of the room and instantly brew a cup of coffee for myself at any point in time that I feel like it.. We have had it for a while now and I'm ready to throw out my conclusion.

It's crap

Sure its basically free to me cause I am not personally paying for it. And yeah there are a lot of different options back there but they basically all taste the same to me. So not only is the coffee just not good, but its very wasteful. There are these little containers that each round of coffee come in and after use it becomes garbage. We have all sorts of cups in the office yet these people always bring us 50 plastic and styrofoam cups and 100 plastic stirrer things. Can't people just use a spoon to stir it up?

Ahhh whatever. I don't really care I just don't have anything else to talk about right now.

  Music Pirates
Hundreds of file swappers sued

The recording industry filed 261 lawsuits against individual Internet music file sharers today and announced an amnesty program for people who admit they illegally share music files across the Internet. Cary Sherman, president of the Recording Industry Association of America, said the suits targeted 'major offenders' who made available an average of 1,000 copyrighted song files.

  Dirty Bird Report Week 1
To all the vickless doubters... and yeah we played a crappy cowboy team.. but you better recognize! the dirty birds are just warming up. the running game is chugging (sorta) and doug johnson is slingin' it (gotta throw more to price) the defense is holding their own (quincy carter sucks) and feely is the man...

we just need to get Price the ball more...our number 2 guy, finneran broke his hand and is out a month or so...watch out for McCord to step up big time...

justin griffith, the rookie fullback looked great. im real happy he's the man at the position for us. secondary played well at times... and not well at times... farris on special teams reminds me a lot of that guy who played for the patriots a few years ago. cant remember the name....

Crumpler is the man. Dunn played well. I think we should get the ball to dunn twice as much and he'll have a two-thousand yard season all around. the problem is we got vick coming back soon and he'll want to run, a great #2 in duckett, and now griffith is a very solid option coming out of the backfield. not to mention price, crumpler, and mccord.

Id like to see the bucs lose tonight... im not too worried about the giants, redskins, rams, packers, or saints... carolina could have a good year... bucs and eagles are always tough..49ers
usually can hang... im watching out for the vikings and seahawks!

in other news...

the bills looked damn impressive, i see the pats going at best 6-10 this year.. dolphins will bounce back (tough loss)... plummer looked shitty. holmes looked hot. the charges sucked. the lions scored 41!?!.. steelers passing game is still stellar. warner sucks.

after all it is only week 1

vick hated watching the game from the box.

How to do the Dirty Bird dance
from SportsJones

In the ‘80s, Atlanta hosted the second coming of Billy "White Shoes" Johnson and his multifarious gyrations, punctuated by his trademark split-spike. And, though it’s just a sad memory now, the late Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium was also the 2-legit-2-quit house of "Neon" Deion "Prime Time" Sanders and his sideways "Neon Shuffle."

The great, or perhaps unfortunate, thing about "The Dirty Bird" is that, like "The Macerena" and "The Hoky Poky," almost all of us can do it. Few of us have White Shoes’s cheerleader-esque flexibility or Neon Deion’s unique joint structure and sense of rhythm, but most people can hop up and down and flap their arms.

-Hop to the right with your elbows raised;
-Hop to the left and jerk your right elbow down, as if pulling on something;
-Hop to the right and extend your right elbow away from your body;
-Hop to the left and jerk your left elbow down, as if pulling on something;
-Hop to the right and extend your left elbow away from your body;
-Your elbows should be back into their original raised position – now flap your wings as a bird might, and at the same time hop back and forth until you are tired.

  Weekend Blastimo!

Falcons win! 27-13 against Dallas. Great game for the team. Positive motivation and proof that we don't need Vick to win. Keep up the good work boys. Next week we play the Skins.. Should be fun! Griffith was very impressive in his nfl debut at fullback. Nice!

Last Night
Last night was fun, we went to an engagement party in Cooperstown for Jeremiah Brown and his fiance Candice. It was cool. I got to see a lot of my swimmer friends from college that I had not seen in quite some time including Sloan, CJ, Tanaka, and Erika. We had fun. Then we drove back to Saratoga around 10pm and went out with Joanna and Ed. That was also fun. I was very tired. I slept until 1 today.

Friday Night
Friday Night Rezi played the Carriage House at Beardslee Castle. It was great. They played with another band and all the sets sequed into each other's sets. It was cool how they did that. Basically the music never stopped all night. Fun times. It was my sisters first Rezi show. It was a late night, and it required driving home very late at night. I got back by 4 AM.

REZI Setlist
9/5/03 Beardslee Castle Little Falls NY

^members of Jerkwater Ruckus joined Rezi and the music smoothened into the Ruckus sets.

The Streak

We are skipping Ohio and going straight to West Virginia and up through PA on our way back. The goal is to be home by 10. BA!!!
